My family and I just returned to “real life” in our home city of Québec, Canada. We are still reliving what can only be described as “a utopian experience” in Mexico. We stayed in a dreamy castle-in-the-sky surrounded by every modern luxury a guest could imagine. The Ultra Suites in the South Tower, at Hotel Mousai Puerto Vallarta, with the full package we were looking for. Our sprawling terrace suite with plunge pool was the detail that sold us on the destination. Forgive me if my hotel review is a bit “wordy”, but I simply have to gush about our incredible stay.
The Plan
We love Mexico and have been vacationing there for years, but we wanted to experience something new and exciting. For that reason, we chose Hotel Mousai; this luxurious hotel had already received a 5 Diamond Rating among other prestigious awards, so, of course, we had to see what all the “hype” was about. We contacted the hotel directly to speak with one of their Travel Agents because, in our experience, this is the best way to find out about special offers and secure vacation package deals.
Our priorities on the trip were three-fold: we wanted style, elegance, and sophistication. While researching our trip, we looked for hotel suites with an indoor pool and a 2 bedroom suite because we were two couples; this was a long desired trip with my sister-in-law and her husband. About our Suite with Private Pool
We ended up booking Two Ultra Suites next door to each other in the South Tower, with breathtaking views of the Sierra Madre Mountains and the sprawling Pacific Ocean. Both suites showcased a fine composition of Italian furnishings and the latest in modern design with stunning sensual artwork covering the interior space. Our suite was furnished with a plush King Size Bed, while our friends’ suite mirrored our own, but with Two Luxurious Queen Size Beds. Each room was equipped with the latest in technology with ambient music and room-darkening curtains controlled by the single touch of an iPad. There was even a sophisticated entertainment center hidden behind a transparent wall mirror. The 2 bedroom suite shared a connecting door for socializing which could also be locked off for privacy.
The terrace spaces were the highlight of each unit and each was its own suite with a private pool. The chic eco-conscious design of the sprawling terrace was decorated with elegant loungers, a soft hammock, and dining table. This terrace suite with a plunge pool was the cherry on top, built into the sleek floor design for unparalleled views and deep relaxation. All this was set against the backdrop of stunning emerald green forests and the pure blue magic of the Pacific Ocean.
Extra Treats in our Room
As if all that wasn’t enough, Hotel Mousai included a buffet of luxury comforts for our vacation getaway. We were treated with a personal butler service and waited on 24-hours a day. We had a daily turn-down service with a pillow and aromatherapy menu, plus exclusive luxury amenities, which you’ll have to inquire more about with your concierge because the items vary by season. With all this pampering, we felt like true Kings in a Castle, especially with our Ultra Suites located on the highest floors of the South Tower.
Dining To The Nines
The dining experience at Hotel Mousai exceeded our expectations by far, beginning with authentic Mexican cuisine at their Blanca Blue restaurant. Our taste buds were further dazzled by the contemporary Chinese menu at DAO restaurant and the innovative Japanese dishes at Hiroshi. We savored fine wine and succulent aged steak at Bocados Steakhouse. Finally, we indulged in gourmet Italian cuisine at their new modern art restaurant NOI, which delighted our senses and did not disappoint. For snacks and drinks, don’t forget to check out The Terrace for breakfast options and Hotel Mousai’s North Rooftop Bar and South Rooftop Bar for daytime snacks and late-night cocktails with the most amazing views.

There was never a dull moment in our schedule, as the resort offers a wide range of on-location activities to exercise the body and nourish the mind. We ended our stay by booking a couples’ massage at their world-class Spa Imagine, which offers everything from hot stone massage to the latest in hydrotherapy treatments.
