Calling all runners! Puerto Vallarta will be hosting a marathon on Sunday April 15th, 2018 to the delight of all who enjoy participating in races or cheering on the runners. Puerto Vallarta Marathon Details
For competitive runners, there will be a full marathon (measuring 42,195 meters) as well as a half marathon (measuring 21,097 meters), both of which will depart from the Port Terminal in the marina at 6:30 am on Sunday April 15, 2018. Additionally, there will be a recreational 5k race that will depart at 8:30 am. Everyone is welcome to join in the various marathons, from seasoned athletes to the general public. The age categories for each race will be: Free (18-39 years old), Master (40-49 years old), Veteran (50-59 years old) and Veteran plus (60 years and over). The marathon will have a time limit of 6 hours, while the half marathon will have a time limit of 3 hours.
Awards
For the full marathon, the first three male runners as well as the first three female runners who reach the finish line will be awarded, regardless of which age category they fall under. The first place winners will be awarded $10,000 Mexican pesos, the second place winners will be awarded $6,000 Mexican pesos and the third place winners will be awarded $5,000 Mexican pesos. These winners will not be eligible for prizes in the age categories. Following that, the first three male and female winners in each age category will be awarded, with each first place winner being awarded $4,000 Mexican pesos, each second place winner being awarded $3,000 Mexican pesos and each third place winner being awarded $2,000 Mexican pesos.
For the half marathon, the first three male runners and the first three female runners in each age category to reach the finish line will be awarded. First place winners will be awarded $2,000 Mexican pesos, second place winners will be awarded $1,500 Mexican pesos and third place winners will be awarded $1,000 Mexican pesos.
