Mistakes Newlyweds Make on their Honeymoon

Table of Contents

Your honeymoon is, undoubtedly, one of the most important and unique periods of your life; every couple looks forward to this trip as a chance to destress and heat things up after their wedding. If you make some mistakes, however, it can make the honeymoon less than ideal. Here are some of the most common mistakes newlyweds make on their honeymoon.

Booking budget airlines

Discount airlines can be more trouble than they’re worth at times, and can leave you miserable if the flight is cramped or the amenities are subpar. Furthermore, lots of stop offs or connections can lead to fatigue; you may not be able to afford first class, but spending a little extra on your honeymoon is recommended. Treat yourself and travel in style; a comfortable itinerary is the least you deserve when you’re on your honeymoon.

Going cheap on your room

Opting for cheap accommodation, too, is a mistake you should avoid if you can; as newlyweds, you may spend quite some time in your suite while on honeymoon so you should make sure that you have a decent view, a good bathroom, and a bed that you’re comfortable in at the very least. Splurging a little is allowed, and if you’re doing it at any point it should be when you book your room. Be sure to tell the hotel you’re honeymooners, too, as they will often offer treats for those on honeymoon.

Packing your schedule

Planning a schedule that is just too full and too busy is a sure way to a stressful honeymoon which leaves you feeling drained rather than revitalized and relaxed. Ensuring you have the right balance of activity and down time will make your honeymoon great.

Throwing caution to the wind with family planning

If you are not planning on starting a family straight away, you should plan ahead and bring your preferred contraceptive method with you; this way you can rest easy without the risk of growing your family too early.

Leaving for your honeymoon immediately following your wedding

Leaving your reception to hop in a limo headed for the airport is a nice ideal, but the reality can be much more stressful than anyone anticipates. For example, where will you keep your luggage, where will you change out of your wedding attire (or will you travel in it), and who will take your wedding presents home? All of this needs to be thought out before you schedule your honeymoon to begin on your wedding day.

Taking your friends or children along

Family vacations are wonderful, but your honeymoon is for the two of you, so just keep it that way and enjoy your first vacation together as a married couple.
