For all the pregnant women out there, I want to share my review of Spa Imagine at Hotel Mousai in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Being pregnant is one of the most wondrous and exciting experiences that a woman can have. You feel empowered and strong and the feeling of sheer joy is contagious! That being said, pregnancy certainly isn’t easy or as glamorous as imagined. It can be tiring, uncomfortable, and confusing. You find yourself sobbing at TV adverts or desperate for a nap an hour after you’ve woken up. Your body aches in unusual places and for a blurring period of time, it feels foreign and unfamiliar.
It’s so important to take care of yourself and prioritize your well-being while being pregnant – I would know! I have a two year old daughter and I’m currently pregnant with my second child.
Surprise Weekend Getaway
My husband recently scored several brownie points by booking a surprise weekend getaway for us to stay at Hotel Mousai and celebrate my birthday. I couldn´t miss the opportunity to visit the resort´s luxury spa, Spa Imagine. I had such a positive experience that I feel it’s important to share my review of Spa Imagine with other pregnant women! I booked the rejuvenating Vitamin C facial treatment. I was advised to arrive one hour before my appointment to use the spa facilities prior to my treatment. The tiring and nauseating first trimester had left my skin lackluster and dry, so I was very excited for this treatment!
Spa Imagine´s Hydrotherapy Circuit
First of all, if you haven’t already had the pleasure of visiting Spa Imagine (pregnant or not), I highly recommend doing so! Located on the 15th floor of Hotel Mousai, the open space offers the most breathtaking views of Banderas Bay and the seemingly endless Pacific Ocean. The elegant interior complements the natural surroundings and creates an ambiance of elevation and serenity. It is the perfect environment to soothe the hormonal mind and body. The spa features a hydrotherapy circuit that showcases some of the most high-tech equipment in Puerto Vallarta, including a sauna, steam room, vitality pool, and a cold plunge pool.
I must admit, I was feeling a little conscious about getting into a swimsuit with my blooming body. Being pregnant is wonderful, but it’s not always easy. Sometimes it can be hard to embrace your changing body, as beautiful as it is. The staff however, made me feel so at ease and special. They delighted in my pregnancy and took an interest, which made me feel comfortable. It wasn’t an issue or awkward like I first imagined.
For safety purposes the staff advised that I only use the six-cycle vitality pool. They took the time to talk me through the function of each pool. It was evident that the safety of my child and I were their main priority and I could truly sense their care and responsibility. They explained that since I was pregnant I couldn´t use the cold plunge pool, sauna or steam room since they either lower or raise your body temperature too much, which isn´t good for the baby. They also told me that using the Jacuzzi is not recommended for pregnant women since it can hit pressure points on your body that aren´t safe for the baby. Although I wasn’t able to use all of the equipment offered, I wasn’t left feeling jaded or alienated. The staff ensured that I utilized and enjoyed the six-cycle vitality pool to the maximum and regularly came over to check on me. They invited me to the breakfast bar where they brewed a cup of jasmine and rose leaf tea and offered a cookie (or three) as I basked in the blissful ambiance before I was called into the treatment room for my facial.
Facial Time
I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve had facials before and knew that Spa Imagine is renowned for its luxurious treatments and massages, but I wondered how different could it be from my other experiences?
Well, this is how good it was: I fell asleep! I was that client who fell asleep while having a facial and was woken by the soft tune of a xylophone. I don’t know whether it was the warmth of the heated blanket and pillow, the dreamy background music, or the sheer talent and skill of the beautician/masseuse, but as a whole, the experience was simply divine and unique.
It was more than just a facial. The beautician also massaged my face, hands, arms, and feet with aromatic oils, being careful with pressure points and respecting my pregnant body. She applied moisturizing creams to my face using a variation of brushes and techniques, all of which were safe in pregnancy. I was in my element and left the treatment room feeling beautiful, bold, and rejuvenated. My skin was literally glowing and felt so hydrated and soft. I totally felt brand-new.
The Best Experience Ever
Visiting Spa Imagine was a better experience than I imagined. I felt at ease the entire time and left feeling like a totally new person. It was just what I needed. I wanted to share my review of Spa Imagine so that everyone has the opportunity to experience how wonderful it is. The cabins are very comfortable and the staff offer a world-class service that makes you feel special. I will definitely be back!
