International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Today, March 21st, not only marks the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere but also the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Just as spring marks a fresh start, this day reminds us that every day is a new opportunity to raise awareness of the negative consequence of discrimination and to do our part to counteract racial prejudice.

March 21 also commentates a tragic historical event in 1960 when police in Sharpeville, South Africa opened fire at a peaceful demonstration, killing 69 people. In 1966 the United Nations proclaimed the date as an international day of remembrance and to promote efforts against all form of racial discrimination on a global scale.

All across the world, people of all skin colors and racial backgrounds unite in a series of events to mark this day to promote tolerance and fight racism in all its facets.

At Hotel Mousai, it is our standard to see all of our guests for who they truly areunique individuals – and offer first class services no matter your background, race, religion or sexual orientation.
