Hotel Mousai Resort Update

Table of Contents

We want to share with you a Hotel Mousai resort update. The AAA 5 Diamond rated resort reopened on May 20th with full service. The resort had been closed for two months due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, but was finally given the green light to reopen, subject to travel advisories.

During the closure, TAFER Hotels and Resorts implemented new corporate policies and procedures based on the advice of governmental authorities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff and guests returning to the resort.

Maintenance and Deep Cleaning

Most of our staff were off of work, following national stay-at-home orders in Mexico. However, a few essential crews performed necessary maintenance and deep cleaning of the resort during that time. Hotel Mousai has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized and is ready to receive guests.

TAFER Resorts Corporate Directive

TAFER Resorts, Hotel Mousai’s parent company, has issued new corporate policies and procedures for health and safety in the wake of the Coronavirus. We want to share these policies with you, so you are aware of the safety measures that we will be taking at Hotel Mousai. The health and safety of our guests and staff is our top priority.

Temperature Screening at the Entrance

To ensure that guests entering the resort are healthy, thermal cameras have been installed at the entrance for a non-invasive temperature screening. For all staff,  our security team will be taking their temperatures with a non-contact  digital thermometer. Anyone showing a temperature over 100°F / 38°C will be asked to take a second temperature reading. Any guest or staff member showing a temperature over 100°F / 38°C will be directed towards appropriate medical care.

Upon arrival, luggage being handled by the Bell Boy will be sanitized with a UV device prior to being delivered to the guest’s suite. All guests will receive a welcome amenity mask at check-in.

Cleaning and Disinfecting of Public Spaces

High contact areas such as check-in counters, desks, phones, computers, tables, door handles, elevators, etc. must be continuously cleaned with sanitizing solution.

Hand Washing

All staff are being trained in correct hand washing techniques, and managers will be reminding staff throughout the day to wash their hands. It is TAFER’s policy that all staff who work in food consumption centers must wash their hands every 30 to 45 minutes, and the managers in those areas must enforce this.

Sanitizing Gel

Hand sanitizing gel has been installed in key areas of the hotel. Managers will ensure that sanitizing gel bottles are full and stocked in all appropriate areas, especially high traffic and high touch areas, and managers will ensure that staff use sanitizing gel regularly.

Masks and Gloves

Food processing personnel must wear masks and gloves at all times.

TAFER’s policy states that appropriate PPE will be worn by all staff members including masks.

It is not mandatory for guests to wear their face masks around the resort.

Social Distancing Practices

Guests will be encouraged to practice social distancing by standing at least 6 Feet / 1.8 Meters apart from others not traveling with them.

There will be a maximum of 4 people permitted per elevator, except for guests staying in the same room.

Restaurants will comply with occupancy limits and occupancy has been reduced by 50 per cent. The number of tables in the restaurants and the staff dining room have been reduced in order to make space for appropriate social distancing.

Pool lounge chairs in the pool and beach areas will be arranged to ensure appropriate distancing.

Staff are being instructed to limit physical contact, avoid handshakes, hugs, and kisses on the cheek.

Social distancing is required for personnel inside and outside the hotel, as well as between departments.

Restaurants

In order to follow social distancing protocols, breakfast, lunch or dinner buffets will no longer be offered. Instead, only a-la-carte menus will be available.

Menus, check holders, pens and equipment that is presented to the guest during the service will be disinfected after each use.

Restaurant menus will also be available via a QR code.

Dining tables, chairs, and bar stools will be sanitized after each use.

Suites

Guests will be able to schedule their desired time slot for housekeeping in order to minimize contact. During the cleaning service, maids will wear a face mask. They will follow a strict cleaning and sanitization protocol paying particular attention to high-touch items such as television remote controls, toilet seats and handles, door and furniture handles, light switches, jacuzzi and sliding doors.

Extra pillows and blankets will be available upon guest request to avoid storing in room closets.

Safe Transportation

Transportation companies that drive staff and guests to and from the resort must follow cleaning and protection protocols.

Redesigning the Resort Experience

As part of the Hotel Mousai resort update practices, we are redesigning the guest experience with the aim of ensuring that safety and social distancing requirements are met. All of our traditional operational processes are being revised, such as check-in management and customer service protocols, among others. Digitization of hotel services will play a fundamental role.

Tafer Hotels & Resorts is exploring the addition of new innovative disinfection technologies, such as ultraviolet light to sanitize the Suites in between stays and electrostatic sprayers, which use an electrostatically charged disinfecting mist.

Additionally, we anticipate some changes in-room amenities, for example making hand sanitizer readily available. We will be ready to act in the best interests of guests and staff as the situation continues to progress.

Doctor On Site

Hotel Mousai will have a doctor on site to assess symptoms presented by staff or guests.

Managers will be in constant communication with all staff to provide information, medical assistance, and follow-up to anyone who presents symptoms.

If any staff member or guest appears to be sick at the resorts, they will be directed to the on-site doctor, who will determine if any COVID-19 symptoms are present, and if it’s best to go to the hospital.

If the doctor determines it necessary, Housekeeping must sanitize the areas where the staff member or guest had contact, taking the necessary personal protection precautions.

Global Standards

TAFER Resorts is working with providers like Ecolab to ensure adherence to global standards. This requires specific training for employees, as well as control and monitoring of measures endorsed by experts in occupational health and safety. Our protocols will continue to include the recommendations of the global and local health authorities

Our Policies Continue to Evolve

Our Hotel Mousai resort update focuses on the safety of guests and staff. We know how important cleanliness is right now. We know we must go out of our way to ensure that staff and guests are safe and protected. For this reason, our policies and procedures will continue to evolve based upon the needs of our guests and our staff.

We’re Waiting for You

Through this crisis, we have not lost our passion for hospitality and service. We know we will come out of this better than ever, and even more eager to provide our guests with the best vacation experience. We can’t wait to see you again!
