Hotel Mousai, nestled within the lush Garza Blanca Preserve, hosted a press conference at the tail end of last month in order to announce the first ever International Sculptors Forum in Puerto Vallarta. Luis Fernando González Corona, owner of Hotel Mousai and the surrounding Garza Blanca Preserve, came together with Arturo Dávalos Peña, Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, and Dr. Marco Antonio Cortés, the Dean of the CUCosta University of Guadalajara campus, to make an official announcement about the 2017 International Sculptors Forum. This splendid event will be held at Puerto Vallarta’s CUCosta campus from November 13th through November 25th.

A distinctive sculptural workshop

With the help of private local sponsors such as Luis Fernando González Corona as well as Puerto Vallarta’s City Council and CUCosta, the event plans to turn Puerto Vallarta into a temporary cultural workshop all around the city. The first International Sculptors Forum in Puerto Vallarta looks forward to welcoming 11 international shining stars of sculpture who will be traveling from exotic locales all over the world including Iran, Spain, Greece, Holland, Taiwan, Hungary, Egypt, Mexico, Turkey, Peru and Germany. Acclaimed sculptor and academic Kemal Turan, who hails from Turkey’s University of Marmara, will direct a group of selected students who are part of CUCosta’s Visual Arts degree program to help him manage the event.

Puerto Vallarta to host a distinguishing cultural experience

Vallarta Lifestyles, one of Puerto Vallarta’s most prestigious local magazines, was on hand at the press conference, which quoted Dr. Marco Antonio Cortés as commenting, “With this forum, we want to offer new tourist attractions that contribute to convene a new profile of tourists, more oriented to the enjoyment of cultural, material and symbolic heritage.”  With a cultural experience this magnificent in the works, there is no doubt that Puerto Vallarta’s already thriving artistic and cultural scene will be made even stronger.

A generous donation: seven sculptures

Luis Fernando González Corona, who is president of Tafer Hotels & Resorts and the Villa Group as well as owner of Hotel Mousai and the surrounding Garza Blanca Preserve, offered his support for the cultural venture alongside other private local sponsors. As part of the event, seven sculptures will be donated to some of the most favored neighborhoods throughout Puerto Vallarta. To make things more interesting, there might be a competition taking place that would allow various local communities to compete in order to bring the sculptures to their part of the city.
