Various golf legends, such as Jack Nicklaus, Joe Finger, Tom Weiskopf and many others, have made their mark on the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta by designing world class golf courses that have been attracting avid golf enthusiasts for decades. With stunning fairways, challenging obstacles and top-of-the-line facilities, it is no wonder golfers from around the world are choosing to tee off where the pros once did. The variety of accessible, yet challenging, courses makes Puerto Vallarta the perfect destination for your next golf vacation.

From Marina Vallarta to Riviera Nayarit, there are a variety of upscale golf courses throughout the region. Marina Golf, the closest course to downtown, is a par 72 that hugs the scenic shores of Banderas Bay. Its lush vegetation, natural lagoons and challenging holes make it the ideal location for golfers seeking quality greens close to town. Each year in December, Marina Golf hosts the International Pro AM, one of the largest Pro Am tournaments in the world. This and other events hosted at golf courses in the area have led golfers to consider Puerto Vallarta as one of the most important golf regions in Mexico.

Further north, two of Marina Golf’s sister courses are spread across 478 acres of prime Puerto Vallarta landscapes. Making up the Vista Vallarta golf complex are two championship courses designed by golf greats, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskopf. The more popular of the two is the Nicklaus course which is situated on the highest point of the property, adding incredible views of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range and Banderas Bay to its already impressive repertoire. Just one year after its opening in 2001, the course was used for the PGA World Cup Tournament, catapulting it into the international spotlight. Each 18 hole course of the Vista Vallarta complex offers a variety of challenging greens with diverse elevations, assorted bunkers and course conditions so sublime that you’d think you stepped into a golfer’s paradise.

Rounding out the list of excellent course in the region is Flamingos Golf, the first course to be built in the area. Stretching over 6,853 years, this par 72 course has narrow fairways, gently sloping terrain and lush vegetation that frames each of the challenging 18 holes. At Flamingos Golf, players are encouraged to steady their pace of play and enjoy the beauty of golfing at one of the most gorgeous fairways in Mexico.
