Set to delight the taste buds of foodies once more, the 22nd International Gourmet Festival will descend upon Puerto Vallarta and its neighboring areas of Tepic and Riviera Nayarit this November with a variety of gourmet-driven events featuring scrumptious international cuisine.  

Founded by culinary geniuses Chef Thierry Blouet and Chef Heinz Reize in 1995 (with honorary founder Chef Roland Menetrey joining them in 2000), this exciting festival was designed to bring awareness to the awe-inspiring destination through its burgeoning culinary scene.  Since its inception, the culinary standards of local chefs have continued to be refined and polished, with innovative techniques at the forefront of their craft.  Consequently, the area has become a popular culinary destination which brings gourmet aficionados from across the globe who want to enjoy the delectable foods and friendly hospitality for which Mexico is renowned.     

The inaugural festival began with just six hotels and six independent restaurants, while this year’s event has more than double the participants from twenty-five outstanding hotels and restaurants such as Chef Carlos Leyva of Hotel Mousai’s Hiroshi Restaurant and Chef Mario Castro of Blanca Blue at Garza Blanca Resort & Spa.  Each year, every participating establishment invites a celebrity chef to provide their unique spin on cuisine and be part of the festivities. This year, Hotel Mousai will be hosting guest chef Jags Aldaba at Hiroshi restaurant, while sister resort Garza Blanca will be welcoming Rurik Salazar and Yerika Muñoz.

To date, almost half a million devotees of gourmet fare have been impressed and delighted by the culinary masterpieces of five hundred guest celebrity chefs (many boasting Michelin stars).  The spectacular gourmet dishes on offer during this special event are crafted with precision and a level of skill that repeat festival-goers can’t get enough of.

This year’s Gourmet Festival will begin on Friday, November 11, 2016 and finish on November 20, 2016, offering several different ways for gourmet fans to indulge like never before.  The opening event is the Grand Gourmet Village, where guest celebrity chefs will supply a variety of eats at their gourmet kiosks to heighten the anticipation of the foods that are to come throughout the festival.  Theme nights, which frequently center on a culinary region or particular ingredient, will be hosted by many participating restaurants.  Three fun workshop sessions will be led by top international chefs as they expand your knowledge on wine pairings with lunch.  In addition to these, several other events are on the schedule, with the festival closing with a magnificent seafood feast where diners can look back at the incredible culinary treats they have consumed over the past ten days.
